Hi David, In your pic that shows the back side of a brake caliper, you can see the caliper date code stampings of "E J". Skip Echert's Vintage Trek website has a nice page devoted to date codes used by various bike component manufacturers. Hard to see in your pics, exactly what the brakes are, so I couldn't look it up for you. But find the brand, and then look for the date codes here:

If the brakes are original to the bike, then it will certainly give you a good idea of year. Hope this helps...
