I've seen quite a few old thouroughbred racers in Tuscany converted to town bike duty. Fenders, racks, city bars, chain guards dual sided ratraps sans clips are standard fitment. I remember seeing an all Nuovo Record Cinelli whizz past in Sansepolcro in just such a state ridden by a very distinguished looking gentleman in loafers, trousers, jacket and tie. I remember thinking that 30 years earlier that gray haired guy was probably racing the same bike and now it's his daily transport. Even with the scratched paint and patina, could a bike be any luckier or have led a better existence?
