Sometime the skewer shaft and the cap/lever are not OEM, or compatible. I have had a few skewers that had mixed manufactures. I myself (oh, you don't say) have broken a few skewer shafts and then have had to scramble to find one that works. Some have tapered holes in the nut/shaft that don't fit the lever and have too much slop to cam and lock. BT
