McMaster is a nice convenient supplier, but with bearings it may be best to go to a local industrial bearing supplier. Some are better than others.

I made a couple hubs for a project recently, and the bearings I wanted to use were $13 each at the hardware store, $8+ shipping from MSC (McMaster competitor) And 1.85 from a local place I deal with - F.B Harris in Lynn Ma Plus a local industrial supplier will have all sorts of interesting useful stuff.

Figure on going mid morning or early afternoon, first thing is usually very busy. Leave some time, and be patient - let them know you can wait while they take care of the $500+ customer who has production machines down. If they're a pleasant place- Some aren't- they can be a wealth of information about nearly anything mechanical Just like a good LBS

A while back I was in contact with a list member as I was looking for a replacement sealed bearing for the F/W that fits onto a set of Cinelli Bivalent hubs. He was kind enough to recommend this source to me:

http://www.mcmaster.com/

Hope they have bearings as smooth as the ones in the Hardin hubs.
