Best of all, check out the components on the bike. Mafac center-pull brakes, what appears to be a straight seatpost with an Ideale model 3 adjustable seat clamp and a well broken in Brooks Team Pro. TA Pro 5-vis crankset, a 650B wheelset? Is that a Huret Jubilee front derailleur? Maxi-car hubs.

I wonder if use of a French bike and components like those is now considered "cheating"... that is, when used by an American, and especially one who is riding near the front.
