When I lived in France, these were the default flashlight batteries, available everywhere.

This battery is also commonly used in disposable flashlights, so you can probably just go down to the 7-Eleven and buy one of those and bust it open.

Those were the most reliable battery bike lights, back in the day.

Big problem was that the mount clamp would always slip if you used it on your handlebar. I used to slip little lengths of inner tube over the jaws. That helped some.

Later, Ray-o-Vac came out with a similar looking light. Not quite as nice quality, but it ran on two "C" cells rather than the exotic 4.5 volt AD28.

I really wish someone would revive the classic British 1" x 1/8" headlight mount. There are lots of very nice bikes still on the road with the mounts already built on, but no available lamps to fit.
