I am having my primary bicycle (a '92 Hans Schneider - he's a KOF) refurbished and need something raceable to ride for the next six weeks. I am contemplating the purchase of a Zunow bike that I came across on Ebay, and was wondering what you all have to say about Zunow bikes. This bike has 8 spd. Dura Ace on it, and I don't intend to get into the Campy is better, friction is the way to go, etc., etc., etc. I would just like to know if you think that the bikes are well made, and whether the one (and only one) on Ebay would make a decent racer. Thanks.

I don't think you would be happy with the Zunow, Philip ... first of all, you'd be joining the "pink bike" club. Also, lots of strange lug cut-outs to puzzle over. (Is that a starfish?) Then there are all the weird sayings on the decals: Pentaglia, etc. And all the sideways glances you'll get!

However, the ride will be very fine. Efficient, smooth, quick but neutral handling. If you do win the auction and only end up keeping it for 6 weeks or so, please be sure to let me know when you're done with it so I can add it to my collection.
