Dear CR folk, Velo Rendezvous is less than a week away with the first ride on Thursday afternoon through the Vintage bicycle show on Sunday featuring featuring a Timeline of Colnagos & Ted Ernst's display of original fixed gear and track bikes from the 1920's to the 1960's. Ted was going to show these bikes last year *but* was inducted into the US Cycling Hall of Fame the same weekend.

Here is a great chance to meet one of Cycling's Legends and he is one of our own. Ted raced quite successfully mid-century and grew up around the turn-of-the-century racers who frequented Ted's dad's bicycle shop in Chicago. It's a RARE treat to talk to a guy whose experience spans much the 20th century!! He's the SouthBay Wheelman Cycling Club & Manhattan Beach Gran Prix founder as well as a long time bike shop owner, Ted is a real gent & is worth the trip alone!

The Colnago timeline display will likely be the most steel/on topic Colnago bikes ever to be gathered in one place-PLEASE-PlEASE-PLEASE bring whatever 'Nago's you have 1954 to 1985 !! I plan to bring ALL of my on topic Colnago's. These aren't wall hangers or trailer queens... I ride all of mine and have a span of 1971 through 1985 from crusty to minty!! I have probably spent 50 or more hours thru last night digging out, re-piecing together, cleaning up, setting up, washing, polishing, correcting and cajoling the best out of the 10 I'm bringing. It's Long Beach not Pebble Beach for these bicycles but all will be presentable for the big party on Sunday. Quite unfortunately I won't be riding as I have a fractured heel bone and have been hobbling around the garage and at the top of ladders and step stools digging for parts high in the racks with a foot in the cast. So there is no excuse to leave any Colnago's at home on next Sunday. Chuck and Sherry have done a great job on each and every VR and this looks like it will be the best one ever!!

One week till the show-I challenge everyone who is or can come to dust off your Colnago, wash it up (or not) & bring it down Sunday!!

Respectfully Submitted,
