I'm also putting lots of comfortable efficient miles on on-topic clip/straps every day, using a stash of slot-cleat Sidis/Dettos/Vittorias/etc. For some years I tried different clipless pedal systems while racing to see what the advantages were, but since I didn't have comfort issues or efficiency loss with cleats/clips/straps I didn't get any advantage from clipless. Meanwhile I can hop on and ride with most any shoe I'm wearing--for me that's an advantage for my road bikes. My off-topic mtbs have clipless because I do find them somewhat advantageous on the trail.
Here's hoping that Harvey keeps riding whatever is most comfortable and efficient for him because that's what I do.
