Good discussion by Kevin -

In my mind, I assume that insurance will be a nasty battle if I need to claim it. Another issue that thankfully hasn't come up - if seller ships by FedX and it gets lost is it buyers or sellers responsibility of FedX denies the claim? Maybe buyers and sellers need a good discussion of this up front and then the question is - will UPS be better? So far, I've heard little about UPS denying claims on older bikes, except that the whole claims process is horribly painful.

If something is really super rare - and if compensation for loss by insurance is less vital then the item not getting lost, I've actually shipped items by FedX air overnight. Most costly way to go, but the premium FedX service seems to be the most dependable.

And for best security? Well that is why I prefer to drive to the Cirque with the best goodies.

\r?\n> FedEx claim, but I personally wouldn't want to rely on it. Suspect that

\r?\n> "insurance" type claims against an old item would assess depreciation, thus

\r?\n> decreasing the value against a new replacement.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> Your luck may hinge on who you speak to at FedEx and how strongly you do so.

\r?\n> Their liability/limitation is pretty clear about their financial responsibility,

\r?\n> but not very clear about what constitutes antique/vintage/collectable items.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> Guess that one could always claim that the item was not one of these

\r?\n> antique/vintage/collectable items, but I always prefer to be honest and not

\r?\n> jeopardize committing what may be perceived as fraud.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> As for questions regarding FedEx shipping specifics, I once again suggest

\r?\n> reading all the fine detail and/or discussing with a FedEx representative prior

\r?\n> to shipment. I do not profess to be the expert on FedEx shipping details, but

\r?\n> only wanted to relay my personal experience with a recent claim.
