Hi, My name is Dan Grosser. Some time ago I joined the classic rendezvous list. I have submitted a couple of emails to the list but, in violation of the rules, I neglected to properly identify myself.
I first got into "vintage" bikes in 1975 at the age of 18 when I bought a used Peugeot PX10(Aqua Blue with Black Nervex lugs) from a friend of my dad. It was a revelation, so light I could barely ride it in a straight line the first time I got on it. I did the AYH thing. Patch rides, PBP brevets etc. Anyone remember Steve Bauman on his Red Eisentrout? I went on to join Century Road Club Assn. headed by Lou Maltese. Around this time (1980) I bought two Marinoni frames and set them up with campy N.R. and reduced SR gruppos. I was introduced to this inexpensive but workman like builder by Ed Albert and Ed Merriman.I still have these bikes. Never excelled at racing but the training left a special place in my heart for the lower Hudson valley.
Today, I have the following in my "stable": the two Marinonis, a Jack Taylor Touring bike, a Viking track bike and a Raleigh 28" three speed with rod brakes (yes it's O.T. but I couldn't help my self). I could talk about bikes I've loved and lost but it would take way too long.
I currently live in Philadelphia, PA, USA where I am a member of the Philadelphia Fire department Haz-Mat unit.
Yours in cycling, Dan Grosser, Philadelphia, PA, USA
