To everyone on the classicrendezvous list,

I want to introduce myself. I have been riding on and off for years, mostly solo riding in the places I have lived including Chicago, Portola Valley, Fukuoka, and New York. I actually started becoming more serious about cycling while riding a mamachari (cheap granny bike). I found that bicycle commuting was a far superior way to travel.

That led me to take up road biking (being far too chicken to bike commute in Manhattan). With fond memories of my childhood Schwinn and later Peugeot that I should have never let go, I have slowly become more interested in vintage and "new vintage" type bicycles, mostly because of an appreciate of their fine aesthetic value and an appreciation of the craft which goes into them.

Living in a Manhattan apartment, my stable is necessarily limited with only two bikes currently: an Airborne Blackbird for sport, and an Anchor PCD3 keirin bike, but as of late I have been hunting a bit for a Miyata 1000 and a nice Raleigh Sport, and eyeing some sort of retro-modern randonneur, like a Tournesol or Toei.

Anyway, I look forward to learning more about vintage bicycles and wanted to thank everyone for their previous postings, as the archives have been a wonderful resource.
