Yikes.

A Pimpin', Bitchin' Pog

I want to buy this pup and ride it in next year's Eroica, girls like this like to be slapped around and a few coats of strada bianca might do her some good.

But seriously, the 1980s were poseur heaven, were they not? Drilled out, Imroned, pantographed from pillar to post, chromed up, lug cut-outs enamelled to distraction, in your face graphics (my '82 Ciocc has Ciocc stuck on it in about 23 different places including behind the seat post to ensure the guy you've just pulled ahead of knows why) and anything but anything but plain old black or grey cabling. Mo Town on a bike. Of course, all this seems quaint and understated compared to what one sees today. And those are just the riders.

I am going to appreciate all the more my latest acquisition when my Gilles Bertraud racing frame arrives. She's 1980ish, too, but a shy French girl of quality with "G. Bertraud" on the down tube and that's all need be said. But compared to this Pog, she's going to be all alone on the street corner at 1.15 am.
