I did read that Simoni rode our event on Sunday, in this article: http://www.cyclingnews.com/protour_oct07.php?id=road/2007/oct07/eroica07

<Manuele Mori (Saunier Duval-Prodir) was the first Italian, in fourth. Two-time Giro d'Italia Champion Gilberto Simoni, who rode the cyclo-tourist version on Sunday, finished 12th. Noted Classics riders Filippo Pozzato (Liquigas) and Alessandro Ballan (Lampre-Fondital) finished with the main group.>

My wife and I had a great time too by the way. We rode about 475 km total in our two week tour, with L'Eroica falling towards the end. We were traveling self-contained, stopping wherever we felt like it, and picking our route each day. A great way to go, but probably only do-able this time of year when things are slow. There were a couple of dandy little hotels we found where we were the only guests for the night. Great to meet all the guys I've heard about and emailed over the year. Lindsay Crawford - What an animal! at age 67 he rode the long distance - 205 km - plus an unplanned 25 km detour in the middle, and still finished by 4:00. And that on a 42/54 and 13-24 gearing. Makes me feel like a wimp with my 26/26 low gear!

Hard to come back to the rain and cold of Seattle after all that nice sunny warm weather! Can't wait till next year.
