Subject: [CR]Sale or trade: Karrimor panniers, Resilion fixed / free hub, CraneRD, Nitto "Postem" + bars

Esteemed kamarades, I would like to find friendly listmember-type buyers or traders for the following kapital: 1. Pair of panniers, rear, by Karrimor. These are the older, iconic Karr imors in top-stitched black canvas with off-white leather straps, gray i nterior, and of-course the black-and-white rivetted labels reading "A ka rrimor product" (Haslingden, Lans., England) and the shield"k/p". Nice c ondition, believe barely used; leather straps entirely supple. One badge is cracked / separated around the rivet and might be glued down. $45 + $10 shipping (continental US); will ship internationally. They are a lit tle bulky so I think that shipping rate is not unreasonable, but I'm sti ll getting a feel for the rate increases that occurred in the past year. Main compartment is about 10" x 10" (25cm sq.), plus each has a buckled pocket that measures about 9" x 2" x 2", very approximately. 2. One Resilion chromed steel hub, rear, for fixed / free ("flip/flop"), unused / "NOS condition". 40 hole, solid axle, has flats on axle, easil y respace-able but spaced at 120mm so probably (?) '50s/ early '60s prod uction (not sure when they were discontinued, but I believe this model g oes back to the thirties). $45, call it $55 shipped in the lower 48. You will know this hub weighs about two BH Racelites-worth...but is oh-so-l ovely to look on, and is utterly reliable. Aesthetic attributes include: high flanges 3" in diameter, mirror-like chrome on said flanges, and at tractive, sweeping "Resilion / Made In England" logo delicately incised or rather stamped in the axle barrel. Nearly guaranteed to outlast most any empire you can think of, past, present, or future. Switch back to ta llow eventually. 3. Shimano "Crane" rear derailleur, very good used condition. I removed this from a Metcalfe & Mason ("MM", pre-MKM) lightweight that had seen s ome early-'80s-type renovation before coming to me. It works very well, but I am obliged to put a Campagnolo unit on by an inner compulsion to m ore closely replicate what my older brother (by nine years) was running- -on his Metcalfe--in circa 1975. He was later rear-ended by a car while riding in traffic (this was in San Diego, in 1976) and while someone gav e him a lift to the hospital (it wasn't too serious, fortunately), the b ike remained at the side of the road--and was gone by the time anyone co uld get back retrieve it. But I digress! This smooth-operating Crane nee ds a good home and can be yours for $16 handed off to a New Yorker, $20 shipped in the states, or at actual cost to, say, Alexandria--or Austral ia--or Zaire--or Zimbabwe.

4. Nitto Stem, "Postem" model--steel, 21.0mm but has stock shim increasi ng diameter to 22.2 (I've inserted the stem but haven't measured; fit wa s good on an '82 Fuji). 95mm extension, 85mm height above minimum insert ion mark, very graceful design places handlebar (25.4) fixing bolt ahead of bars but canted slightly down--perhaps 15 degrees off 90. Essentiall y NOS condition, and unused, though has been test-mounted twice. There i s one 2mm nick on the left-top about 1cm ahead of the bolt-head. $20 plu s shipping. 5. Well-used Nitto randonneur bars, "Grand Raundoneur 32", circa 1981/'8 2, about 41 / 42 cm wide in the drops, 32 c-t-c on the tops. 25.4mm diam eter at center. Has lots of tape residue, and there's a limit to how wel l these will polish up, but they do have the attractive shield and wreat h logos. How about $12, but also about $12 to ship due to the size. $24 shipped in the US. Will adjust shipping of course for more than one item. Items I can use (trades) include: Carnielli stem a la Bottecchia (how ma ny lengths were these made in? Anyone know?); Campagnolo NR seatpost / s eatpin (clean-ish used) 26.4mm; used TA "Criterium" bottle cage w/out cl amp (I have the clamp...); TA bar-mounted bottle cage with or without ou t hardware.

Thanks a bunch, you all continue to inform and entertain me. Tom Ward / New York City (Manhattan) / USA
