After a PERFECT day of riding in New Jersey with fellow CR folk Steven Maas
land, Michael Allison and Gabriel and Rita Romeau, my girlfriend and I caug
ht a jazz show and then popped into our new favorite Italian restaurant in
Williamsburg, Brooklyn (which offers a VERY delicious "Pollo Campagnolo").
They play Video Italia on Satellite TV and half way through my plate of pas
ta, something caught my attention. There on the television, out of the corn
er of my eye, in black and white: a peloton, a team car, a man in a Faema k
it handing out loaded musettes to passing racers! Wha? What followed was fo
ur and a half minutes of incredible archival footage (unfortunately punctua
ted by a less than handsome Italian pop singer) featuring a few riders that
y'all might be familiar with. Fortunately, I was able to catch the song cr
edits, scrawl them onto my filthy napkin and stuff it into my pocket. Thank
