I also have found the N.R. front der works fine with triples, when I've used a Willow triplizer to run 52/42/26 on a N.Record crank. The front worked fine with a 26 ring x 24 cog combination, and would even work with the 26x21 if you trimmed the der just right as the chain was running through the narrowed section of cage at the very bottom of the der. The upshift from 26 to 42 is not particularly smooth of course, and takes a bit of extra attention, but that kind of jump isn't great with most modern triple fronts either, which are designed for more even differences between chainrings.

BTW, the N.Recor front der in the photo in that ebay auction is clamped to the seat tube several millimeters higher than it ought to be for best performance.
