Subject: [CR]WTB/WTT - interesting 26.2 seatpost for Roberson frame

Hi all,

I just received (thanks Brian!) a Rob Roberson frame. It's 65cm center to center - my perfect size! I rarely see any bike in my ideal size, let alone something as special as a Roberson! I bought it from the original owner who said Rob built it for him in 1981 for light touring. It does not have the fancy bling that ones sees on some Robersons, but is a beautiful frame nonetheless. It has his signature chrome "R" on the headtube. It also has braze-on cable stops on the down tube, so I presume it was designed for bar-end shifters. (Roberson used a cool tube style stop, rather than a plain stop. I've never seen stops quite like these.) It still has its original Cyclart paint job -- a sweet baby blue pearl, in quite good shape for a 26 year old frame.

Before receiving the frame I was thinking about Campy super record, Dura-Ace AX, and sundry other options for the build. But after seeing it, I realized this is perfect for the first generation black anodized Dura-Ace group I've had stashed away, awaiting the right frame. So this weekend I've been building it up. Black drilled D-A chainrings and crank, black D-A large flange hubs, rare 1st generation D-A bar ends, black D-A brakes, black Crane GS rear derailleur (I want to wrap a lot of chain to allow a wide range of ratios for Vermont's mountains!), black D-A headset, etc. To my eye the black Dura-Ace looks great against the baby blue pearl paint. I'm nearly done but for a few things, one of which is the seatpost.

To my surprise, it takes a 26.2 seatpost. I had none in my stash, so I ran out and bought a cheap modern one at my LBS to tide me over, but it simply won't do. This bike deserves much better. I'd like something interesting, preferably non-campy, to use. Simplex, Zeus, some unusual or fancy Japanese seatpost, whatever. Surely some of you have odd ball 26.2 seatposts collecting dust in your parts bins!

Let me know what you have. I'm happy to buy or discuss a trade for something in my parts bin.

Off list please.

Thanks!

David
