I suppose that I am overly critical, but ebay auctions like this one for a Galmozzi:

http://ebay.com/<blah>

bother me.

The bike has been repainted by Cycleart (check out where the Cycleart decal has been partially cancelled out on the non-driveside chainstay) but no mention of this is made. Apart from it having been repainted without this being acknowledged, it would also appear to me that Cycleart has not replicated the down-tube decals correctly. They also added numerous braze-ons. The seller then goes on to say that he was only able to find the Shimano brake blocks as not being period-correct. I wonder what can therefore be said about the decidedly newer brake calipers, brake levers, front derailleur, freewheel, seatpost, saddle, BB, tires and rims?

In my eyes, about the only original elements on the bike are the headbadge, rear derailleur, hubs, bars and stem, shift levers and cranks.

Given that I own two myself, I have come to recognize that Galmozzi as a builder has a deservedly good reputation and that the few bikes that do come up for sale generally sell for big bucks. I do however believe that the buyer of this bike was driven more by a desire for instant gratification, than by calm reflection. May he/she enjoy his new bike for many more years.
