My 3rd Edition has this for axle diameters:
English Nominal 5/8" (15.88mm) Actual 15.75mm - 15.80mm French Nominal 16mm Actual 15.9mm Italian Nominal 16mm Actual 15.9mm
You could probably lap out English cranks to fit French or Italian spindles.
