My guess, if it takes a 27.2 post, is that it might well be a Competition, which was all 531 b. Stamped drop-outs. Maybe one of the short-lived "touring" bikes that complemented the Competition. Are they round-rapid-taper chainstays? The ones that had not dents because they had no diameter? :-)

On the other hand, your pictures give it a high probability of indeed being a Raleigh, probably bike boom era. I note particularly the nice side view of the seat lug, with the "smile" in the leading edge that has a large enough gap for cleaning (short) finger nails. And what seem to be the sheen of copper all around the seat eye attachment, in the same photo. this suggests cooking the joint just a bit too long.

harvey sachs mcLean va (a very happy rider of a 1973 (?) Competition, which is a very comfortable and pretty responsive bike).

+++++++++++++++ Retro Raleigh Fans: I have a Nervex lugged Raleigh that needs to have an identification. I was going to call it an International and I know that not all Internationals have chromed lugs. This was something that I kept around for years and wanted to do something with. I just finished bead blasting it and coating it with a lubricant to prevent rust. It was so poorly painted (re-painted) it looked like it was done with a broom by a drunk. Here is the link.
