hi paul,

i've found the current production 'klean kanteen' in the 18oz size fits quite well in my old clamp-on REG bottle cage. The spring clamp design seems to hold things quite securely. I don't have the handlebar version but I guess they are not very different. I also used the same bottle in a clamp-on TA cage for some time. It worked but did have the tendency to rattle on rough pavement and (on rare occasion) fall out. It does not seem to be a good fit in the TA handlebar cage.
