"What do you do about "period correct" tires?

Chuck Brooks Malta, NY (USA)"

Mon dieu, Chuck has just drawn my line I guess! I'd happily use period correct tyres if I could find them in rideable condition. Honest. So I cheat. The tyres are new. But no lime green sew ups for me, it's hard enough finding traditional buff sidewalls as it is. And the air in them is as au currant. Cabling is also sometimes new. What else? Honestly I can't think of anything except lubricants maybe. Oh, my watch. I need to find a Breitling Tour de France watch that doesn't cost more than I've spent on five bikes. I once was riding and a guy pulled up alongside me and said I was totally period correct except for my watch. I felt just SO inadequate. Who was I kidding?
