Metric 531 sets in French hands often seem to build up into extra nice riders. If you look at that PX as a bike frame rather than a vintage bike frame, it makes perfect sense to me to build it up with newer parts. Someone who is indifferent to vintage bikes can still appreciate a great riding frame. The fact that PXs were essentially mass produced during the bike boom I think lends itself to a utilitarian application.
