I see somebody is auctioning a lovely badge, and I assume that this badge came his way via a thrid party, or was found in a box.

If there is one thing in bike "collecting" circles, and sorry to offend but I mean to, that drives me really mad, it is the guys who strip perfectly decent or recoverable bikes of their only ID for a quick buck. I will furthermore state that badge collectors and buyers are party to this crime. Ebay is full of badges for sale, every little nerd in France is prizing badges off any bike he can get his dirty fingers on for a few euros. Thoiusands of bikes, and good ones too, not just mass produced junk.

OK, we all need to make a buck, but anybody who is a true collector, anybody who loves bikes, should boycott solo badges lest their provenance be reputable and proven.

I have two beautiful machines which will likely never be identified, because some congenital imbecile prized the badge off for an extra 10 euros before selling the bikes on.

No personal offence to any particular person meant, and if I get kicked off the list for this, so be it.
