Joan was an incredibly hard worker and although toughm, had a heart of gold. .. Actually Paul rode for me for two years, during which he won the national crit championship as a master (called "veteran" at that time.)

Maybe that was when Paul lived in northern Va. just outside DC, the region w here the Cirque will be taking place this coming Spring!

That's cool.

Joan's last name is Durdalleur so of course everyone said "derailleur". She has two sons, IIRC Paul and John, who were very good riders in the late 70's . Coincidentally they both rode for Toga.

Dale pointed out Paul Pearson in the photos. Around that time Paul lived in the Durdalleurs' basement.

A few years back John Pergolizzi rented a condo in San Deigo for the Winter and one of his neighbors noticed his bikes. The guy turns out to be Paul Dur dalleur.

Here is a picture of Joan talking to another cycling luminary Fred Mengioni. (you have to scroll down a bit)
