CRANKSET / BOTTOM BRACKET COMBINATION:

O.M.A.S. Corsa crankset - Campagnolo Record compatible 144 mm BCD - 42/52 a lloy chain rings / inner reinforcement webs / 52 tooth ring without chain “roll off” pin - 170 mm anodized alloy arms / 9/16" x 20 TPI pedal thre ads / 22 mm x 1 mm cap threads - unmarked O.M.A.S. dust caps - steel chain ring bolts - model 900 "Big Sliding" Corsa ... [NOS / NIB - in perfect unus ed and unhandled condition]

These O.M.A.S. cranks were actually based upon forgings made by Sakae RIngy o (SR), just as were those late 1970’s to early 1980’s proprietary Rale igh cranks and the earliest version of the MAVIC branded cranks. In each i nstance, unfinished SR Royal crank arm forgings were sent along to the resp ective companies where they were machined, ground, polished, etched, and an odized to preference. As for the O.M.A.S. specific version of these cranks being offered for sale here, like their contemporary Campagnolo counterpar t, they have a 144 mm BCD, use a standard 22 mm x 1 mm cap threading (...wh ich means that you can use a common crank puller for square tapered bottom brackets, such as a Park CCP-2), and they bear a striking physical resembla nce. But there are also subtle differences. The edges of the crank arms t hemselves are more rounded than the Record arms, the decorative fluting is both wider and deeper and its edges are finished differently, and the tabs at the end of the crank spider where the chain ring bolts pass through are not squared off but rather have been rounded. As for their respective weig hts, a bare Campagnolo Record drive side crank arm (...no rings, chain ring bolts, or dust cap) weighs in at 254 grams whereas its O.M.A.S. counterpar t tips the scales at 261 grams. But before you consider a seven gram diffe rence to be of any advantage, consider if you will the fact that vintage Re cord cranks have a reputation for too often cracking at the apex of their s pider along the stress riser whereas the SR forging, in any of its various guises, was generally considered bullet-proof in this regard.

To complement the O.M.A.S. crank arms, chain rings, chain ring bolts, and d ust caps, the purchaser has their choice of ONE and only ONE of the followi ng two bottom bracket assemblies:

O.M.A.S. Acciaio - traditional non-cartridge adjustable type bottom bracket for 70 mm shell - steel spindle - square taper - 114 mm with 3 mm drive si de asymmetrical offset - annular sealed bearings - 36 mm x 24 TPI Italian t hread aluminum alloy cups (non-drive side - right threading / drive side - also right threading : caution) - aluminum lock rings - "accordion" style p lastic dust sleeve - 15 mm steel crank bolts / washers - model 132 "Big Sli ding" Strada (70-S-120) ... [NOS / NIB]

... OR ...

O.M.A.S. Acciaio - traditional non-cartridge adjustable type bottom bracket for 68 mm shell - steel spindle - square taper - 112 mm with 3 mm drive si de asymmetrical offset - annular sealed bearings - 1.370” x 24 TPI Englis h thread aluminum alloy cups (non-drive side - right threading / drive side - left threading) - aluminum lock rings - "accordion" style plastic dust s leeve - 15 mm steel crank bolts / washers - model 132 "Big Sliding" Strada (68-S-120) ... [NOS / NIB]

While the aforementioned bottom brackets will accommodate either a 70 mm It alian threaded BB shell or a 68 mm English threaded version of same, the re spective spindle widths provided each presume a pre 1977 / 1978 non-C.P.S.C . compliant front derailleur in the instance of Campagnolo Record equipment (...i.e. no frontal “lip” protrusion unless you want your derailleur t o foul the backside of that nice new drive side crank arm). In both cases, these bottom bracket assemblies use twin adjustable cups with separate loc k rings which allows one to very precisely dial in their chain line for opt imal performance. Additionally, these assemblies are such that the ONLY di fference between them and the oft heralded and highly coveted titanium vers ion of O.M.A.S. bottom bracket is the actual spindle itself (...literally e verything else is the same right down to the individual part numbers - whic h means that if you can source an appropriately sized titanium spindle thro ugh Café de Velo or the like to be used in lieu of the steel version incl uded here, you have just managed to magically change the bottom bracket in question into an O.M.A.S. model 130 Titanio - and if anyone would like me t o provide comparative side by side detail pictures of an NOS O.M.A.S. model 120 steel versus an NOS model 130 titanium bottom bracket, I would be more than happy to oblige).

Purchase price for the NOS / NIB O.M.A.S. crankset with choice of NOS / NIB O.M.A.S. bottom bracket assembly: $175.00

CRANKSET / PARTS:

Campagnolo Record crankset - post 1968 144 mm BCD - 43/52 alloy chain rings / inner reinforcement webs / pre 1974 52 tooth ring without chain “roll off” pin - 170 mm anodized alloy arms / 1977date code drive side / 1973 d ate code off side / 9/16" x 20 TPI pedal threads / 22 mm x 1 mm cap threads - pre 1978 chain rings and chain ring bolts marked "PATENT CAMPAGNOLO" - m odel 1049 ... [Used - a date mismatched set of vintage crank arms in slight ly varying states of condition - the drive side arm has extremely light sig ns of toe strap rub on its facing and shows only a very few minor blemishes begot of use, the most remarkable of which is a straight line scratch alon g its backside from once running afoul of a front derailleur lip - the non- drive side arm has a considerably greater number of small marks and imperfe ctions including a series of these underneath its pedal hole as well as not iceable toe strap rub through the anodized finish across its outer face - b oth arms have the typical “halo” around their pedal holes from where pe dals were mounted without benefit of washers - the cap and pedal threadings themselves are in excellent shape and the square taper splines are unmarre d - as for the chain rings, both show evidence of moderate use with no disf iguring or hooking of their teeth - there are actually rather few minor cos metic blemishes in either case, although there are some chain lift marks on the backside of the 52 tooth big ring - the chain ring bolts are in great shape with no signs of oxidization - this entire ensemble has been disassem bled, inspected, cleaned, polished, and reassembled using a dab of anti-sei ze compound on all of the chain ring bolt threads - absolutely no cracks or functional compromises (...in fact, that drive side arm “rings” about as fine as any tuning fork I have ever come across - but you will have to d isassemble everything once again to try that trick for yourself)] - $85.00

Campagnolo Record chain ring - 144 mm BCD - 52 tooth alloy outer ring with inner reinforcement web - pre 1974 without chain “roll off” pin - pre 1 978 marked “PATENT CAMPAGNOLO” - model 753/52 ... [Used—relatively li ght use with no real significant wear to be found on the teeth themselves ( ...you can still see the factory machining marks if you look closely) - nea r flawless facing for chain ring that has actually been used (...only a cou ple of faint markings) but with light chain lift marks on its backside - or iginal small and upright “PATENT” lettering on the reinforcement web in dicating that this is of late 1960’s to very early 1970’s manufacture] - $25.00

Campagnolo Record chain ring - 144 mm BCD - 42 tooth alloy inner ring with inner reinforcement web - pre 1978 marked “<C>” - model 753/42 ... [Use d - very light use with no significant wear to be found on the teeth themse lves (...you can still easily see the factory machining marks) - only the m ost minimal of cosmetic blemishes, primarily in the form of “ghosting” from where this ring was once mounted onto a drive side crank arm, and thos e will never be seen once it has been re-affixed onto another crank arm] - $35.00

Campagnolo Record chain ring fastening screws / bolts - chrome plated steel - 5 mm Allen wrench fittings - pre 1978 marked “PATENT CAMPAGNOLO” - c omplete set of five suitable for a double chain ring crankset - model 754 ( screw) / 755 (nut) ... [Used - although these are nearly indistinguishable from new - the chrome plating is in perfect condition] - $30.00 for the set

OFMEGA crank bolts with washers - 15 mm head with 22 mm x 1 mm thread - "Bl ack" finish - model 748 (bolt) / 749 (washer) ... [Used - these are essenti ally clones of their early Campagnolo Nuovo / Super Record counterparts, bu t without any Campy logo (...naturally) - minor evidence of use to be found , principally in the form of compression markings on the individual washers - the bolt heads themselves are NOT rounded or otherwise unduly marred] - $10.00 for the pair

BOTTOM BRACKET / PARTS:

Campagnolo Nuovo Record bottom bracket for spindle for 70 mm shell - stainl ess steel rifled spindle - square taper - pre 1978 114 mm with 5 mm drive s ide asymmetrical offset - model 744/A (70-SS) ... [Used - very good conditi on with near perfect tapers (...the oxidization seen in the picture is very light and has only magically appeared in the time between when I removed a nd cleaned this spindle and a week or so later when I finally got around to taking the actual photograph) - I am of the belief that a pair of crank ar ms have only been mounted onto this spindle ONCE (...although I cannot prov e this, so I will not state it as being fact)] - $15.00

CHAIN:

KMC - "Missing Link" reusable quick connect / disconnect master link - Blac k - suitable for use with 7.3 mm wide chains ... [quantity 3 - NEW - a hand y device for those vintage bikes with vintage narrow style 6, 7, or 8 speed chains that you actually ride with some degree of regularity] - FREE to th e first persons who ask (...in conjunction with purchase of anything else f rom this list - limit one per person, please)

HUBS:

Campagnolo Record hubset - quick release hubs (...minus the quick release m echanisms) - large flange design with lube port - loose ball bearings - 36h model 1035/A front hub (100 mm spacing) - 36h model 1035/P rear hub (126 m m spacing) - 1.370” x 24 TPI English freewheel thread - model 1035 ... [U sed - freewheel threads are in perfect state - overall, this coupling is in well above average condition with respect to cosmetics having only the typ ical markings at the spoke holes which bear testament to the fact that they have been put to good use before - the spring steel oil hole clip cover on the front hub has had one of its ears snap off but the cover itself remain s entirely functional with more than enough grip to still stay in place - t he rear hub has recently been repacked with new grease whereas the front ha s not and should be in the near future (...it spins too freely for anything other than “race day” use as you can just start to hear the individual ball bearings tumble) - the finish shine on the rear hub is truly glorious while the luster on the front hub is only slightly less appealing (...bear in mind that I am particularly picky and this minor disparity can certainl y be remedied with a bit of time and polish, but I am going to leave it up to the new owner to perform said work should they see fit - PLEASE NOTE: qu ick release mechanisms are NOT included (...and if I had a used spare match ed pair, I would have offered them here and then increased my asking price) ] - $80.00 for the pair

RIMS:

MAVIC Module 3 - double wall polished aluminum alloy with stainless steel e yelets - 22 mm section (...optimal for use with 28 mm to 32 mm tires, or in other words for the metrically challenged, that would be 1 1/8” to 1 1/4 ” tires) - hooked bead rim profile - smooth / non-milled braking surfaces - 27” x 1 1/4” clincher - drilled for Schraeder valves (...of course, you can always use one of those Presta valve stem adapters made by the like s of Wheels Manufacturing should that better suit your circumstance) - 36h front / 36h rear - primary foil label having stylized diamond shaped "MAVIC " logo in Red and Gold above the words "MADE IN FRANCE" located adjacent th e weld seam - secondary Silver background rectangular foil label having rou nded corners reading "MODULE 3 27 x 1 1/4” over "Utiliser impérativemen t une mèche" over “fond de jante largeur 17 m/m" in Black letters - mod el Module 3 ... [Used - these are a beefy box rims most appropriate for use with a mid 1970’s vintage light touring, loaded touring, or tandem style bike - the rim labels are the first edition style that debuted in 1976 - b oth rims are straight and true, showing only minor evidence typical of use including light oxidization at the eyelets and degradation of one secondary rim label - overall, these should clean up with minimal effort and a littl e steel wool so as to look almost like new with the singular exception of a small area on one of the rims which has been lightly scuffed (...nothing t hat affects actual braking performance, but certainly not the type of thing that will magically disappear with a mere cleaning) - a favorite with the touring and tandem crowd, these sturdy rims do not come available very ofte n (...although there just so happens to be another pair that were listed on eBay only last night, 11/25/07 - auction number 140183588958, and I am in no way related to the person or persons who posted those other rims for sal e on eBay)] - $55.00 for the pair

MAVIC Montlhéry - polished aluminum alloy with double eyelets - non-anodi zed finish - 20 mm section - box profile - serrated / machined braking surf aces - 700c tubular - drilled for Presta valves - 36h front / 36h rear - ri m stamped "MAVIC MONTLERY" over "MADE IN FRANCE 12 71" - primary foil label having stylized diamond shaped "MAVIC" logo in Red and Gold above the word s "MARQUE DÉPOSÉE" located at the weld seam - secondary Red background rectangular foil label having squared corners reading "CHAMPIONNAT DU MONDE " in Silver letters - model Montlhéry "Championnat du Monde"... [Used - s traight and true with a moderate number of miles (...and I know this to be accurate, as I have owned these particular rims since 1973) - they are in e xcellent condition with the caveat that they have been kicking around in my used spares lot for at least a decade, and as a result, they are a bit dus ty and dirty and most certainly come complete with genuine vintage brake pa d and glue residue - but if you are willing to take the time to carefully c lean and polish these rims, they will come out looking as nice as the day I first purchased them - and while the rim labels are intact with only a sli ght bit of curling at their edges, Greg Softley has been good enough to pro duce replica sets should you be so inclined to replace them] - $35.00 for t he pair

TIRES:

Specialized Turbo / R - 27” x 1 1/8” (ISO 630-28) - black with gum side wall - wire bead clincher design - slick style (...i.e. bald) tread design - recommended 100 psi with 115 psi maximum (...assuming a hooked bead rim p rofile) - model Turbo / R ... [Used - a long ago extinct set of high pressu re tires that were quite popular in the 1980’s - these look to be in good state both cosmetically as well as functionally with no signs of age crack ing or nicks that would otherwise be a harbinger of their impending demise - were it not for the fact that I have one and only one bicycle using 27” tires (...and I intended to keep it that way) and in my situation “vinta ge appropriate” is not a consideration, I would have no hesitation in hol ding these back for my own personal use] - $25.00 for the pair

FREEWHEEL:

Cyclo Pans freewheel kit - Blue vinyl zippered pouch - 14, 15, and 17 tooth threaded cogs / 15 and 16 tooth slip fit cogs with integrated collars / 17 , 18, 19, 20, 22, and 23 tooth flat profile slip fit cogs / two metal space r rings / two plastic spacer rings ... [NOS - this is actually a partial Cy clo Pans freewheel kit which is missing the freewheel body itself, the spar e pawls and springs, removal tool, instructions, and a small bottle of lubr icating oil - however, all of the remaining pieces which are present are in a perfect and unused state - if you already happen to have a Cyclo Pans fr eewheel, here is your perfect opportunity to squirrel away enough NOS cogs and spacers to render it to a like new state ... or ... you can keep this k it on hand for display purposes only] - $25.00

FRONT DERAILLEUR:

Campagnolo Record front derailleur body and lower pivot arm - 28.6 mm clamp -on alloy body with hinged clamp - post 1967 without cable stop - post 1972 with enlarged pivot post housings - post 1972 for use with circlip on uppe r pivot - model 773 (body) / 782 lower pivot arm ... [Used - these parts ar e actually suitable for use on either Record or Super Record front deraille urs dating from 1973 through 1977 or post 1977 Gran Sport models - excellen t condition without any gouges, scratches, or unsightly imperfections - tha t said, there is a very light marking near where the clamp bolt would be in serted, but this slight blemish will be completely obscured once this piece is assembled into a complete front derailleur and properly mounted onto a bike for use - winter time is the perfect time to pull the old switch-a-roo , too] - $20.00 for both pieces

REAR DERAILLEUR:

Campagnolo Super Record inner pulley cage plate - post 1978 style - aluminu m alloy - model 7119009 ... [NOS - this will NOT work in conjunction with t he 814/A outer plate found on pre 1979 Super Record or any standard Nuovo R ecord rear derailleur - flawless] - $10.00

Campagnolo Nuovo Record - rear derailleur pulley cage plates - aluminum all oy - model 814/A outer / 815/A inner

Campagnolo Nuovo Record pulley wheels - post 1969 ten tooth bushing style - model 930/A ... [Used - I would estimate that these have somewhere between 65 to 70 percent of their useful life left - not “chewed up”, no signs of cracking whatsoever, and no evidence of rust on the dust cover plates - inasmuch as these have been thoroughly dismantled and cleaned for close in spection, they will need to have new grease applied prior to reassembly and actual use] - $20.00 for the pair

BRAKE LEVERS:

Campagnolo Record brake levers - traditional non-aero cable routing - Silve r colored non-anodized alloy bodies - pre 1974 "long arm / long reach" allo y levers with "slim point" profile - post 1972 "U" shaped cable relief open ing - pre 1985 cable holder ends marked "BREV. CAMP." - pre 1985 integrated "pivot style" brake lever mounting post clips marked "BREV. CAMPAGNOLO" - pre 1985 chrome plated lever pivot pins - model 2030 ... [Used - this is ye t another set of those obscure 1973 year specific Campy brake levers (...I sold what I thought to be my only matched pair late this last summer) - the se transitional models feature a "long reach" lever having all of the chara cteristics typically found on early examples with the exception of a round cable relief opening because these interim versions use the "U" shaped cabl e relief opening most often associated with their successor "short reach" c ounterparts - ample minor scratches along the facing of these levers albeit a very few of them a tad more noticeable (...specifically on one of the le vers) - thoroughly dismantled, inspected, cleaned, lubricated, and then rea ssembled to functional perfection (...these babies now pivot effortlessly] - $45.00 for the pair

BRAKE CALIPERS:

MAFAC Competition Racing brake calipers - dual pivot center pull alloy cali pers - traditional non-recessed acorn nut mount - post 1974 second edition with foil MAFAC logo inset into the face of the leading arm - no wheel guid es - bronze pivot bushings - fixed bridge with 62 mm C-t-C pivot spacing - large stirrup (49 mm - 59 mm drop) long reach - model Competition ... [Used - everything here is nicely polished (...without over-polishing the alumin um bits to a near “chrome” state) and without evidence of oxidization o n the pivot bolts, eyelet bolts, or springs - indeed, these calipers are in very good condition with one notable exception - there are several gouges located toward the ends of the slotted brake arms as a result of what I can only presume to have been the efforts of some moronic mechanic who once sa w fit to grip them with a pair of pliers while in the process of adjustment (...these marks are purely cosmetic and will not in any way, shape, or for m affect performance) - also, the center bolt mounting nuts have been sligh tly rounded - completely disassembled, inspected, cleaned, lubricated, and then reassembled so as to function like new - buy these to use as a very co st effective upgrade to your decrepit MAFAC Racer calipers ... OR ... purch ase them just to score a spare pair of those near impossible to find stradd le cables for your existing MAFAC Competition brakeset inasmuch as those bl asted cables themselves can cost you as much if not more than the whole ass embly being offered here] - $40.00 for the pair

MAFAC brake pads and shoes - standard four bump pads - 45 mm width - alloy holders with 20 mm posts - suitable for use with MAFAC Top 63, Raid, Tiger , Dural Forge, Racer, Competition, GT, or 2000 calipers - model 1463E shoes / 64 pads ... [Used - technically, these were removed from a pair first ed ition Competition calipers although they will work with those other varieti es mentioned previously - the pads themselves have about 50 percent life le ft - purchase these for those spiffy alloy shoes as they are in very, very nice condition] - $12.00 for the set of 4

WATER BOTTLES / CAGES:

Coloral dual water bottle cage - twin plastic bottles with flat topped caps - handlebar mount - light gauge chrome plated steel - alloy clamps - mount ing screws and nuts - model RMM.113 ... [NOS - brand new and unused - still sealed inside its original plastic packaging - everything here is in a per fectly untouched and unmolested state including the two transparent white C oloral water bottles which are still as pure as the driven snow - the disco loration you see is on the outside of the plastic packaging (...and that is why I took two photographs from the front so that you could see how that “spot” moves about - admittedly, these are a bit of an unusual item apr opos a bicycle dating from 1959 through 1970 or thereabouts - the problem f or me is that I have held onto these thinking that they would be the perfec t finishing touch for a special racing bicycle dating from that era, but al as, I have never managed to purchase a suitable steed - so if you happen to have just that “right“ bike and can abide my rather stiff asking price , then this may well be your very last chance to procure an NOS set like th is (...DO NOT expect to see these appear on eBay at anytime in the foreseea ble future - if they are not sold as a result of this offer to the CR List, they will most likely head back into my stash of goodies for another five to ten years, or until I find the perfect bike on which to mount them) - I remember seeing a brand new set like this at the dawn of the 1970’s at th e old Phil’s Bike Shop in Portland, Oregon...and they were “old” stoc k even back then] - $200.00 (...sorry, but that is what they are worth to m e)

O.M.A.S. water bottle cage - down tube mount - 74 mm alloy aluminum - polis hed finish with Black plastic top guide / clip - model 1075 ... [Used—in very good to excellent condition (...indeed, I believe it to be in at least as good if not better shape than the two currently listed for sale on eBay ) with only minor evidence of usage to be found on the aluminum cage rails themselves - does not include clamps, nuts, bolts, or any other form of mou nting hardware] - $25.00

OTHER BITS / ACCESSORIES:

AFA pump holder - upper (umbrella style) - chrome plated steel - made in Fr ance ... [Used - its condition is such that this piece might well be able t o pass for “brand new” were it not for a slight chamfering to the slot of the mounting screw which prevents such a deception - includes original m ounting hardware (...obviously)] - $5.00

Campagnolo pump washer - 8 mm ID / 18 mm OD - part number 646 ... [quantity 2 - NOS - provides a positive seal between your frame pump and its Campagn olo pump head] - FREE to the first persons who ask (...in conjunction with purchase of anything else from this list - limit one per person, please)

Generic rim strip - protective rubber liner - 27" x 1/2" sizing ... [quanti ty 1 pair - NEW - perfectly suitable for use on 700c clincher rims] - FREE to the first person who asks (...in conjunction with purchase of anything e lse from this list)
