Subject: [CR]fixie vs. fixed gear

Just to clarify, posters who were critical of the fixie phenomenon were not suggesting there was anything wrong with riding a fixed gear on the road. In fact it should be no surprise that most/all (?) CR posters ride or have ridden fixed gear, fixed wheel, on the road and/or track. Instead, the fixie discussion was specifically about the recent fixie culture.

FWIW, I'm a long time fixed rider too, although I'm not with it enough to be a fixie rider and usually have a brake on my fixed gear even if it's only to get me to the velodrome where it comes off. No longer live near a track so my daily rider track bike has brake levers mounted under the tape semi-permanent-like. I'm shopping for my top tube pad, and wondering whether tartan would look good on a black Pogliaghi ;-)

What about a CR logo on a top tube pad, Dale? Show of solidarity and our willingness to get past the generation gap?
