I really don't know, but is drilling/riveting/etc. bars a good idea at all? ?? Are we just hearing from the survivors? My limited experience with met als is that stress concentrates at places like holes, corners, and tears, a nd here we are placing concentrated stress on a place where we just drilled a hole?? I'd lean toward the "friction" approach like Loctite (there are different grades). What about knurling? Or shims with a rough finish? I wonder if the bar or clamp is out of round, and the bar/clamp keep oozing b ack to a more comfortable/looser configuration.

Reid Fisher no holed bars (holes barred?) in San Martin, Calif.
