I have posted photos of the latest addition to my collection, a c. 1980 Gilles Berthoud racing bike, to my WoolJersey album.

This was purchased as a frameset on eBay (France) for the absurdly low price of $225 in September... do we really hold bespoke handmade French racing bikes in such low esteem? Evidently. But I am not complaining. Anyway, she was fitted out with the primo French, mostly Spidel, components of the era that I find so appealing. She's 100 per cent French with the exception of her Czech tyres! Full details are in the album.

I think she turned out rather well and is one of the most delightful riding bikes I own... sheer perfection... and with some very gratifying build details, all done with utter simplicity, which to me says real quality and workmanship.

My thanks to Norris Lockley for encouraging me to acquire this special machine.
