"If not new, has anyone try getting them re-chromed. Not cheap I am sure, b ut car guys do it.

Looking for ideas."

I had Atlas in Texas rechrome the base to a headset shifter set. It was beginning to rust on the inside bottom corners. The sides with tabs to fit the slotted inserts I did not send. The chroming was nice but too thick for the parts to still mesh which will necessitate some judicious filing or emery paper work ( I should have sent all parts; my bad). But the chroming job ( $30 ) was nice and they do small bolts etc. too at a lower cost. They are well known and I think and turnaround time was very short (< 1 week).
