Subject: [CR]NO MORE "Fixie culture"! The next poster gets the boot!

(It worked with recent off topic "crash" talk, so I am going to use the most effective tool I have)

Too many of you ventured too far over the line in your posts on this beaten-to-death topic...

For the record, single speed and fixed gear bikes have an important role in our subject matter on this list. How people who ride bikes look or act outside the confines of this list are simply none of our business. Some of my greatest new friends could be considered part of this Fixed Gear culture.

I have been slow in reading and following these recent "Fixie" posts, but I see immediately that at least 3 or 4 members are deserving the boot due to the content and tone of their messages. Let me cut and paste the principle (but not only) applicable rule: " 12. Courteous exchanges only. The list is not intended as a debate forum. Passionate disagreements may not be indulged in on-list.? Members should be able to participate with the expectation that their contributions will be respected and they will be free from subsequent on-list or off-list harassment. A CR list member will immediately lose their membership if they engage in any attack or negative posts to or about another CR member."

This includes "defenses" as well as initial posts. The "He hit me first" argument does not work....

Also, there is no such thing as "free speech" on this forum. You are a member because you have agreed to limit your posting to a select rage of topics, and to behave in a civil and non-aggressive manner. If you want to range beyond that, go get a soap box & head for the city park. But leave us out of it here on the CR list. ?

I do not like kicking people off this list... It takes extra work & time, I usually like that person despite their indiscretions, and kicking people off causes me to be called a Nazi or Hitlersque. So once again,I will privately give those persons "one last chance" and get on with the show...

But PLEASE, let's settle down and celebrate one another and our mutual interests, and politely ignore and even forget our differences?

Thanks Dale

Please kill this thread! I like fixed. I like free. I have both. I ride both. I like the French. They make great wine and cook great food. I know there's a delete key but my right forefinger now has carpal tunnel.? ?
