After reading the article on the "last of the modern Alex Singers" in the current Bicycle Quarterly, I've become curious about the Mafac GT centrepulls. I can't find very much information about them online, and though Peugeot-laden Toronto has afforded me many examples of Racers and other Mafacs, I've never seen a set of GTs in person. I'm wondering basic things: did they achieve any sort of popularity? What sorts of bikes were they installed on? What is their reach? Does the quick release work on anything larger than the 25mm tires installed on the Alex Singer? How do those of you with GTs like them, and how do they compare to other Mafacs?
