The nylon headset is a Nylfor. Check out the Velobase.com website. Thanks Clyde.
As far as frames are concerned I have a circa 1900 wooden frame. The ''tubes'' are solid wood, appear to be ash, held in metal sockets with screws. The seat tube goes straight through the lug/socket and is turned to a smaller dia at the top to take a seat clamp. Needless to say the wood has shrunk and the head sockets and integral tube flop about. Ok, lets fit a Viscount fork, AVA stem etc (I have these components...) and lets see if I make 2008. Any 'death' chainsets to go on it?
