So often when I read list submissions, I am aware that I am reading about fairly valuable collectible bikes that the listmember has lovely restored after having made a sizable purchase, so that it could become an extraordinarily valuable and collectible showpiece or a lovely toy. I love these restorations too, all the Masis, Colnagos, Paramounts are sensational, but I rarely hear about bikes that the owner had scheduled for garbage pick-up but for some odd reason or another a listmember had intercepted before it would meet its final demise. The bike seems all the more precious when its true potential was unknown before a knowledgeable craftsman gave it new life.

Who had one of these they would be willing to discuss? (p.s. My across the street neighbor, a lover of old steel and former track racer in New York, just found an on topic Peugeot that he was told to pick up or it would be tossed. Sweet high flange Campy hubs, mish mash of parts, Suntour, Simplex, Shimano, SR and Mavic ... fair condition except for a JB weld glop covering God knows what at the seat lug ... and 53 cm perfectly sized for the owner to boot.)
