Subject: [CR]Interesting 1966 T.D.F. documentary

Last night I watched a short but very interesting documentary titled Vive Le Tour that is to be found on a compilation of Louis Malle documentaries at Netflix.

It showed a somewhat different world, a bit darker than usual, of riders going until they toppled off their bikes, or lined up along the road urinating and some things I had never known about the race itself.

For instance, I'll bet none but the really old timers know about the Drinking Raids. Spectators were shown pushing faltering riders up the mountains.wow! Some of the footage in the mountains in thick fog or clouds was just wonderful. These really seemed back roads they were racing on, and I think I saw some of them unpaved.

Documentaries shot today just do not seem to have any heart compared to this. And the Jerseys these guys had! So much cooler than the Polyester looking things worn today.

Highly recommended.
