I don't know much about the Brooks ones. I bought a Gilles Berthoud leather one from Wallbike several years ago, and it looks nice drying the feet of my Trek. Classy looking and functional! I have trouble imagining the Brooks, which looks similar, being any better.

Alex Wetmore has a website with several approaches to DIY mudflaps. Not a gift, but a relationship!

Subject: [CR]Mudflaps question

Hello, y'all, I'm looking for some opinions on fancy, classy-looking mudflaps, either to buy or to make. Anyone have any suggestions or photos of nice mudflaps? I know Brooks makes some leather ones, but how do those hold up? I know salt and sand in the winter are hell on my leather boots, even with regular cleaning. Are the Brooks ones specially treated with something I don't know about? I figure the members of this list probably have some suggestions.... and as importantly, this is for a possible holiday gift for someone who is on most of the other relevant email lists I'm on, so I can't exactly ask this question there! Thanks!
