It is my understanding that undated SR derailleurs of this type are 1985 and later.

Tom adds: The latest dated SR rears I've seen are pat 84. The later undated ones are the type with the reivsed spring, which is mounted on the bottom, inboard body pin, instead of on the upper body on it's own bolt. I had always assumed that all the marked 1984s had the old spring (that's what you usually see), and that all examples with the newer spring were unmarked. I recently found an SR rear with the newer spring and a "pat 84" marking on the upper body. To the extent that this is noteworthy, I will point out the the upper body was revised for the new spring placement, so we have here confirmation that Campy did not stop dating the upper bodies at the same moment that they started using the new part to accomodate the new spring placement. Take it for what it is worth, which isn't much.

Seems to me an SR rear marked Pat 84 with the new spring placement is probably pretty rare, but not one of those rarities that motivates anyone to pay a premium for it, unlike an SR markeed Pat 72, for example.
