Reynolds made Hiduminium bars from 1935 - so it could be more like 70 years of tape residue! They continued to make bars into the early 50s I think but the Bailey shape was a 1930s track shape also used on the road. W J Bailey was a top track cyclist of the period 1910-1930 - he became the manager at Saxon bicyles in the early 1930s. Most Reynolds bars of this period are 7/8in in diameter and REynolds made matching stems - a shim was used as standard.
