Hi, Peter, John & CR Mates---

Very good eyes on the observers here. In addition to what's been mentioned, I would address a couple of points of which I am not absolutely certain as they pertain to the finish of the '52 model. I am going by catalogues and photographs, as the only version of an actual frame I have at hand is a '55 New All Rounder Ladies Lightweight model....

1) I am wondering if the small script which appears on the top tube (near the head tube) stating "New All Rounder Model" and similar monikers on various other '50s Clauds would have appeared on a '52 in the guise of "All Rounder Model."

2) As to whether or not both a chromium-plated seat tube and chromium-plated bilaminated lugs were available, I think one might have to look not only on the "Alternatives" page of the Claud catalogue, but also to the "C.B. Refinishing Price List" for, as Claud states in the '53 catalogue, "a complete list of alternative finishes." I do not have a copy of this list.

I do know, in general, that a great variety of paint and chroming options was available from Claud, and that basically they would customize virtually any cycle to suit the owner's dictates. I have seen all manner of finishes, chroming, feathering, box lining, paneling, you name it, on CB machines from the '50s. You could go down to "the Works," visit with Claud and--for a price--they would do anything within reason to make you happy.

That's my 2-cents. Certainly not worth a "Spinning Wheels," DVD, which I already own, enjoy, and thoroughly recommend.

Cheerio,
