Subject: [CR]Crump's challenge: eBay '52 New Allrounder

Now that the auction has finished, here is my answer to John’s question about the originality of the bike:

If it is 1952 it should be described as a NEW Allrounder

Chrome lugs and seat tube were not offered as an option.

Frame sizes offered were not in ½” steps, only 21”, 22”, 23”, and 24”, and the top tube should be 22½” long

Mudguards (fenders) are not period

Hubs are not period and should be BHC small flange

Double clanger chainset was not period – whatever it is, and the frame only has a boss for a rear mech..

Double clamp on non period levers (shifters) are used, ignoring the brazed on Cyclo boss, so Campagnolo gearing is not right either.

Aero seat post is not period

It has no pedals

531 transfer is not period

A 1952 Brooks saddle should have an oval logo.

I can’t tell for sure what the brakes, stem, handlebars or rims are, but other than the above it seems quite original, and is very pretty.
