So did the Allrounder become the New Allrounder when it inherited the old Avant Coureur's lug pattern? Exactly what year would that have been?

I have seen more than one variation of this frame. My '53 didn't have the external seat clamp and had oval-round chainstays and forks. The '51 I got from Hilary has an external seat clamp, round indented chainstays, round fork blades with a double plate crown and the chainstay "lugs" are different.

(Interestingly, when Hilary Stone had the '51 frame on eBay, he described it as an Allrounder without the "New". Also, his pictures had Avant Coureur filenames, as if he had originally thought it was an AC when he acquired it, but then the serial number identified it as a 1951.)
