Pic of the Day 23 December, 2007 1927 French Cyclo-Pédestre Champion Charles Pélissier
Charles Pélissier all alone on his way to victory in the 1927 French Cyclo-Pédestre (cyclo-cross) Championships. Youngest of the three racing Pélissier brothers, Charles won the Championship three consecutive years (1926, 1927, & 1928). Note the Dilecta-Wolber jersey buttoned along the shoulder, single brake (fixed gear, perchance?), dark-finish deep-drop bars and long stem, wooden rims, and fat tubulars.
Charles Pélissier won the Mont Faron hill climb in 1927 & 1928, eight
stages of the 1930 Tour de France, five stages of the TdF in 1931, the
1933 Critérium des As, and two more stages of the TdF in 1935.
