I can supply one data point here. My orange 1971 (purchased 7/71) Raleigh Record came with S-A chromed rims. These were about 22mm wide by my recollection, but I don't fully recall what tires came on them. Michelin Hi-Speed seems a possibility, and the bike was partially French-equipped (Huret, Milremo), but for the chromed hubs, Altenberger brakes and Wrights saddle.
