Subject: [CR]pump seal summary

Below is a summary of what do do, or buy, to get an old British pump working again: a.. http://www.loosescrews.com/index.cgi?nr=11&b=&c=&sc=&tc=&q=pump&s=&id=417453 513792 b.. the Silca has always made its replacement parts readily available

c.. http://www.lifewater.ca/Appendix_L.htm (very good do-it-yourself instructions)

I removed the leather seal from a 1973 Silca pump (which was damaged when it made contact with a dog's head)

and tried it in several pumps. It still has factory greases or wax and is supple.

It fits nicely in the Apex Ultralite, but not in others.

I'll report back after "rolling-my-own".

Thanks for all who offered advice.

1 pump down, 7 to go.
