Barry, I am The Omnipotent Despot. Ask Mikie Schmidt and Mattie Bowne about me. Do not despair and give up hope. You have only just discovered the pitfalls of the vintage cycling world. So much more is yet to come; the good and the bad. The bikes are nearly always good; you ride them and they tell you their stories. The people are sometimes bad; just like people are in every facet of life. This list is one of the best resources in The World for information on our thing. You will make friends and you will make enemys. Cherish the friends and do not fear the enemies. Their schananagans will give you some of the stories you will have to tell the rest of us! Go to The BVVW meetings. Go to Prospect Park. Take that beautiful new bike of yours and ride her. Investigate her history. If the day comes when your ready to let another caretaker enjoy her, give Arron L. a call. He'll appreciate her too. A good old business associate and friend, now departed, said "keep the Porsche 356/912 faith". Paraphrase that to bikes and stick it out. Maybe just read the archives for a while. Come to Cirque. We'll enjoy the stories over a beer.

Above all, enjoy,

John T.Pergolizzi La Jolla, Ca. 25 miles on the Frejus track bike. Yea, I do use a brake here. But it was on the bike when I got her.
