I don't think it's a Raleigh. More likely from a small UK builder. The paint is almost certainly by C&G Enamels, who did paint for many of those smaller UK shops. It is essentially the same paint scheme used on my Stan Pike, and the same as I've seen on a number of British frames from the late 70's to early 80's.

I have the original build documentation for my Pike, so can verify the C&G paint. Of course, C&G also did refinish work, so you never know.

I don't think what you have is a Pike though. Detailing is not nearly as nice as that of any Stan Pike that I've seen. There were quite a few small builders around at the time that frame was likely built, so it could be from any one of them.

I know that doesn't really help a lot, but it's something, I guess.

>>>>O.K., so here's my quandary: I'm in the process of liquidating "Aladdin's Cave" as some of youse well know. This is a group of bikes which I purchased in an estate sale type situation.

One of the bikes has got me puzzled a bit. At first I thought that she was a Motobecane 753 Team Champion. But she has British/ISO cups in the bottom bracket ( confirmed this on Sheldon Brown's website (http://sheldonbrown.com/cribsheet-bottombrackets.html). So is she a Raleigh? Or another English builder perhaps? Who out there has a knowledgeable answer?

All of the bikes in The Cave were English and from the same mid to late 1970's time period. Whatever she is, she is a very nice 753 bike which I am selling. Take a look at the photos I've posted on wooljersey:

I'm looking for $995.00 plus actual shipping via UPS Ground; packing is included.

Thanks youse one and all,
