Drilled out the bolts holes of an SR 74mm ring and cleaned up with a rattail file. Attached with the original Avocet bolts. This looks like it will work fine, more metal left than I had thought. The bolt hole difference is yet another piece of CR trivia.

However, I discovered another complication. The attachment bolts will not go all the way through the chainring holes. That is, the Avocet bolts have a shoulder between the bolt head and the section which threads into the arms. This shoulder is a larger diameter than the holes in the SR rings, so will keep the bolts from going through the chainrings all the way to the bolt heads. Either the SR rings are nonstandard, which I doubt, or the Avocet inner rings had larger than standard bolt holes, which I strongly suspect is the case. Anyone remember this stuff for sure?

Given the probable scarcity of actual Avocet/Ofmega inner rings, it looks like the best course of action will be to drill out the SR ring bolt holes. That will leave a bit less metal than I'd Ideally like, but I think it will be OK.
