...this is one of those "how stupid can I be?" stories.
I had a beautiful NOS Taylor tandem frame/fork I got from Bob Freeman, awhile back. Then I found another Taylor, a full bike, for a good price, and I thought "ok, I can sell this NOS frame, since I have something else for a lot less, that'll work fine."
So, I sold it.
Then, I discover that the Taylor tandem I bought was not, in fact, the size I thought it was. The NOS frame, on the other hand, was *exactly* the right size.
I've been kicking myself ever since for selling that NOS frame. I've tried to buy it back from the buyer, but he won't answer my posts, alas..<g>
So, now I come to the WTB part. I'd like to buy a nice, clean Jack Taylor double-diamond touring tandem, full bike or, preferably, just a frame and fork with headset and eccentric bb insert, for a reasonable price, or not so reasonable, if the frame is really clean. Also, preferably, one designed for 700c wheels, although I can make a 27" design work. Most of them were designed for 27" wheels, although some of the later ones came with 700c.
Size should be 54-56cm c-t (and I mean to the very top of the seat-tube: Taylor tandems have seat-tubes that extend well beyond the top-tube) for the captain, and 52-55 cm c-t for the stoker. Or 21-22" to top for the captain, 20-22" for the stoker. A 21-22" c-t square would be ideal.
If you have one to sell, please e-mail me, and we can talk about it. I also have this nice candy red one, somewhat worn, that I could use as a partial, or full, trade. It's a full bike. I don't have the exact measurements handy, but the captain is nearly 60cm c-t, stoker is more like 55cm, but I have to check that. We can talk about some kind of trade, if that appeals, but I'm prepared to pay cash too.
Thanks.
