Robbie,

Dunelts were made in Sheffield, England - at least until some time after Raleigh acquired them. I'm certain that Hilary, or one of our other British experts can weigh in on when production might have moved to Nottingham, and when it ultimately ceased.

What you've described is the Dunelt logo. It does indeed look elegant, but alas, many of their bikes were quite heavy - despite their being called lightweights. They aren't poorly made, but except for a few "special" bicycles, they aren't very noteworthy.

For a couple years, I owned a "Racer" model. It was a 10 speed from the mid 60's. It was functional, but a gaspipe. That model was rather uncommon, but the bike was not special enough for me to keep it when a reasonable trade was offered.
